Mi8 Mod
The goal of the Mi8 mod is to add simple features to the game that are otherwise unlikely to be added or will come at a later date.
The mod has two main parts, Mi8 - generally referring to craft/part based functions and WOE, World Object Extensions, which adds more features for World Objects to utilise! WOE is on by default.
This mod requires Melonloader on your Flyout installation!
How to Mi8
A majority of Mi8's functions (outside of PBR & WOE) are done through naming the part.
Example: :Attach:Rotor: or :Hide:
The colons are often optional, but recommended for formatting. Certain features will use them for figuring out values i.e :Mag:30:100:
What can be done?
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Attach | Attach allows you to attach parts to specific moving pieces of in-game parts. For example: You generally cannot attach parts to propellers, however with Attach you can! Certain attach features have their own keywords, please see Custom Raycast Landing Gear and FLIR |
| Hide | Hide allows you to hide in-game parts completely, for example making jet engines invisible. |
| Sound Swap | Sound Swap allows you to change how certain parts in Flyout sound, by importing .wav files in your Craft's folder. |
| PBR Materials | Due to limitations in Flyout's .obj file importation, this allows you to assign a Base Colour, MaskMap and Normal maps in order to achieve PBR! Mi8's WOE also has mirrored features with different keywords! |
| Inverse Kinematics | Allows you to attach Jimmy's target hand and foot positions to any object of your desires, allowing for alternative control types like sidestick or car layouts. |
| Lightswap | Allows you to swap the light material from a light strip to the first material of fuselages / other parts. Good for custom light shapes in interiors. |
| Set Volume / Buoyancy | Allows you to change the volume of a fuel tank, effectively increasing its buoyancy in water. |
| :Dragless: | This allows you to turn off drag from parts. |
| :Uncollidable: | This allows you to turn off colliders from parts. |
| WOE-Integration | |
| CATOBAR | The end-user part of the WOE CATOBAR system, including launchbars and arrestor hooks. |
| Weapon Systems | |
| Overheat Managment | Allows you to change how long until a gun overheats while shooting |
| Custom Magazines | Allows you to assign custom calibers and bullet counts to any part. |
| Wings | |
| :Vapourless: | This allows you to turn off drag from parts. |
| :Liftless: | This allows you to remove lift from wing parts, good for using soft-joints for car suspension. |
Settings
Once your game initalises, a Mi8Mod.cfg file should appear in steamapps/common/Flyout/UserData
List of Keyboard/ definitions on unity forums.
autoTrigger happens on flight launch when your plane loads in, triggering the mi8 search, generally recommended to keep this to True.
Bugs & Bug-Reporting
Mi8 being one of my first proper C# projects has retained a bit of its old codebase and the way it works, and because of this it contains some bugs!
You can either report bugs straight to the Github Issues, or if you don't feel comfortable, ping or DM them to me on Discord.
